My Experience

Field Experiences:

1. Heroes Memorial September 2007

I completed my first stage in a grade 1/2 split classroom. Even though it was an observation field experience, I was given the opportunity to complete a hand full of lessons. The students were well behaved and I was able to learn a lot about the beginning stages of education.

2. Parkview Elementary May 2009

I completed my second stage in a grade six classroom. I was in the class for three weeks and realized that it is much harder to gain the trust and respect from the older students in the school. However, once I was able to relate with them my experience went a lot smoother.

3. St-Lambert Elementary August 2009

I completed my third stage as an English teacher for the French immersion classes. I had students in grade 3 and 4. I also taught math and science to a grade 4/5 split class. This was a longer stage that allowed me to improve my skills a great deal. I learned a lot and feel that I am getting much closer to being ready for my own classroom.
Substitute Teaching:

I have been given the opportunity to practice and develop my professional skills as a teacher while substituting in classrooms. I have replaced English teachers, French teachers, and SETs. By working in schools, I have been able to see what a real classroom is like and how to manage it. There are many different students and as a teacher it is important to make sure that everyone is treated equally. As an SET, I have been able to work those students who either have a learning disability or behavior issues.

Volunteer:

Winter Festival: Brome Lake 2010
I volunteered as a coordinator of the different activities. I was in charge of the relay races. It was a great way to get involved with the community and help out for the enjoyment of the children and families.
